Track Site #3

In the summer of 2007, the Paluxy River flooded with waters as high as 18 feet causing extreme collateral damage to the outcrop and safety fence. Because of this damage, the viewing area had to be closed due to the embankment being too unstable to allow for public viewing in a safe manner.

Unfortunately damage was also done to the tracks in the riverbed. Extensive erosion to the fragile limestone caused by rapidly moving water, rocks, and sediments caused most of these tracks to disappear. Remnants of some of these tracks are still visible in the riverbed, and are accessible by hiking downstream from the track site #2 area.
